Empowering communities and the elderly to combat climate change and build resilience.
We work to restore degraded areas in communities by planting indigenous and agro-forestry tree species. Our aim is to increase community resilience to persistent drought, floods, and landslides. We highlight the benefits of tree growing, map degraded areas, and identify opportunities to promote sustainable environmental practices.
We ensure effective communication and provide access to knowledge and tools to reduce vulnerability among the elderly and communities. Through brochures, radio, newsletters, and workshops, we empower older persons to become environmental ambassadors, sharing experiences and lessons learned on climate resilience.
We enhance community-led actions to prepare for and respond to climate change. By improving the knowledge and skills of older persons, promoting environmental volunteerism, and creating neighbor-to-neighbor networks across Mbale District. We foster resilient communities that are accessible to all income levels.
We enhance individual adaptability through wealth creation, education and outreach, skills development, and improving dwellings to better cope with climate change impacts.
We strengthen social connections between the older persons and the youths, families, friends, neighbors, and community institutions like religious groups, voluntary organizations, and charities.
We support older persons to access their pensions, the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), health and social services.
We provide emotional and spiritual support to help the older persons navigate the challenges of climate change and improve their overall well-being.
